This Fall's Engineering Interns

This fall, Anderson Engineering hosted two Kickapoo High School seniors:  Caleb Barron and Cameron Hole.

They worked with us for an hour each day in addition to working with the Springfield office’s Engineering and Construction Testing Departments.  John Snider served as their sponsor - as a part of their course in interning.

Some of the projects that Caleb and Cameron accomplished include:

  • Successfully geo-locating all of the O’Reilly Automotive projects in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Chris Chappell, AE’s GIS coordinator was able to take their work and create an online GIS. This feature allows AE team members to research soil and environmental information in the 4 state area.

  • Creating/updating nearly 20 online, editable PDF forms. These forms allow our engineers and field technicians to create reports in the field and provide faster, better service to our clients.

As his final task, Caleb started the shell of an internet site that can be used by AE for intranet information - essentially an online company bulletin board. For Cameron’s final task, he researched the best portable infrared camera to buy – which will allow us to do things like “see” into walls, check for reinforcing steel, and analyze sinkholes to help identify the “wet” cooler center.

We want to take a moment to thank Caleb and Cameron for their time and their many valuable contributions. We’re proud to have taught them a bit about engineering and the interning process – and to have had them as part of the AE team.
